Just for the record. I wanted to post this video for future reference of the opposition to Health Care for all Americans by the Republican party. The Republicans, in their quest to satisfy the insurance corporations and defeat President Obama's efforts to bring health care to those who cannot now afford it, are working against the interest of all Americans. Our health care system is in peril, not because of actual performance of dispensing health care, but the rising cost associated with it. Americans now cannot afford a health care policy without contributions from their employers. The cost of contributions to employers are rising forcing some employers and companies to either close or export jobs abroad. People who do not have employer subsidized health insurance cannot afford to insure themselves or their families. When a person or family has a major health care issue, they are vulnerable to becoming completely bankrupt, even losing their homes.
If a person has personal or employer subsidized health care insurance coverage, it is no guarantee they will be insulated from financial destruction. As it is now, insurance companies use tactics to deny coverage for particular procedures, or drop your coverage due to preexisting conditions as they may determine. You are at the mercy of the insurance industry's decisions on your health care coverage. You should remember, the insurance companies are interested in their bottom line, not your EKG line.
President Obama and most of the Democrat political leaders are trying to educate the public and convince the right wing Republican party to join them in efforts to provide a government run health care system with a public option to provide real competition to the existing health care insurance companies. The Republicans and a few conservative Democrats are in opposition to a plan that would overhaul the health care system and benefit those Americans that simply cannot afford health care coverage. Health care insurance companies have bought off most of the conservative politicians and are paying them to obstruct any change in the system that would benefit those Americans in need of assistance.
After a year long battle to construct a new health care coverage plan that would be bi-partisan, the Republicans have been steadfast against it. They are claiming they were not consulted or that any of their ideas were being used. The Republicans have been asked all through the process to contribute meaningful ideas, but they only wanted to obstruct. Now that President Obama is calling them out on their obstruction and offering to sit down with them in a public televised forum, they yet come up with futile efforts to not cooperate.
The video shows how Republicans really don't want to cooperate and it also dismisses their idea that universal health coverage will not work. They unknowingly have their meeting to organize opposition to government run health care in Hawaii, a state that has government run health care.
I only wish the Democrats could explain to the public what the Republicans are doing as well as Jon Stewart does.
